Blending sustainability within an established community
The Clive is a purpose-designed 17 unit apartment building to replace an 8 unit apartment building in Oak Bay Village. Cascadia Architects designed the Clive to achieve a number of programmatic, urban design, and sustainability targets while remaining respectful of the scale and historic mixed commercial/residential typology of the Village.
Highlights
Incremental, appropriate increase in the population base supporting the businesses of Oak Bay Avenue.
Improvement and beautification of the pedestrian and street frontage on Oak Bay Avenue resulting in a more appropriate transition from the commercial centre of the Village to the residential periphery.
Replacement of a dated, inaccessible apartment building with a new energy efficient and accessible LEED Platinum certified building.
On-site stormwater management in a native landscape rain garden that animates the pedestrian experience along Clive Drive.
